Eckstein students may wear costumes to school on Monday, October 31st.

Please use the following guidelines to ensure your student comes to school appropriately attired:

No masks or full-face paint are to be worn during the school day.
No costumes that depict violence or violent characters.
Costumes that promote the use of illegal substances or activities, are derogatory or disrespectful, including cultural appropriation (see below), are not allowed.
No big props (Swords, weapons, wands, etc.).
School staff may take away any accessory that is used improperly or is considered inappropriate for school.
Large, blow-up costumes are not allowed.
Be mindful of cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation is defined as "the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect this culture.“ Cultural appropriation perpetuates inaccurate stereotypes and can create offensive, hostile, and uncomfortable conditions for our diverse communities. We want everyone to feel welcome and safe at our school.

This year's theme is "Show Your Voice". All students are encouraged to participate!

Projects are due on Wednesday November 9th and may be submitted to Ms. Sterling in the library with the PTA Reflections Entry Form. There are 7 categories:
Dance Choreography
Film Production
Literature
Music Composition
Photography
Visual Arts
Special Artist Division *Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.
