Building Leadership Team – Parent Representative
Brief Job Description: BL T parent representatives must be active members of the Eckstein PTSA, with a current student attending Eckstein. Parent representatives may serve up to three (3) years if their organization so desires.
Responsibilities: Attends monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) EMS BLT meetings. Provides communication from/to the BLT and PTSA Board. BLT works to advance school goals for academic achievement, financial stewardship of discretionary funds, and professional development for Eckstein Middle School staff.
Time Requirements: 2-4 hours per month

Comments/What I wish I knew when I took the position? It's good to go in with the mindset of being an observer charged with reporting to PTA, not an active member of the team that should comment on all of the business being discussed. The parent rep is occasionally able to offer a parent perspective when relevant or offer PTSA support for ideas that were brought up, but most of the time the parent rep should focus on simply listening carefully and only speaking when asked to.
